How to make puppy raising less frustrating

I often get asked “is it normal to get frustrated with my puppy?” and the answer is “yes, but it doesn’t have to be frustrating”.

If you’re wondering why your puppy is so annoying, try to put yourself in their position.

They have no idea how to behave in your home, so it’s up to you to gently teach them.

Want to raise a well-behaved and calm puppy?

Make it easy for your puppy to understand what’s ok and what’s not ok.

This starts with establishing rules and boundaries that all family members agree to and stick to.

Set rules with your adult dog in mind

Don’t let your puppy get away with things that they won’t be able to do when they’re fully grown.

Decide now if they’ll be allowed to:

  • Sit on the furniture

  • Jump up for attention

  • Chase the cat

  • Chew on kid’s toys

  • Destroy shoes

  • Bite hands

Help your puppy make the right decisions

Puppy proof your house. Remove everything you don’t want chewed, destroyed or peed on.

It won’t always be this way but you want to set your puppy up for success and help them get it right.
